June 2009
Kennedy is almost 15 months old and doing very well. She just started to walk and is so proud of herself. She is a happy little girl who loves life! Thank you for all the prayers and support! Kennedy is a huge blessing to our family.
Kennedy was born at 32 weeks gestation with a large SCT that was successfully removed a few days after birth. She weighed 6 lb 10 oz with the tumor, and 4 lb 3.5 oz after it was removed.
We found out in November '08 through an MRI that she had another tumor in the same area. Children's Hospital in DC is not sure if it is a new one, or possibly remnants of the old one. Unfortunately, there are no tests available to prove it one way or the other. The surgeon told us that the risk of removing this one is too great, and we would be wise to just monitor it and wait. If we choose to remove it, Kennedy would lose all function of urinary and bowel removal. We agreed with the surgeon to leave it alone, and put the tumor in the hands of God.
Kennedy had another MRI in January '09 and it showed that the tumor has not gotten larger; in fact, he thinks it is shrinking!! Praise God in all His glory! The tumor board has discussed a new plan of action that will not include MRI's every few months. We are still in close contact with the hospital and she will continue to be monitored by the physicians.
Thank you for all the prayers and positive energy that you have given us. Kennedy is a thriving 10 month old baby because of the faith and commitment to God's word that all of us hold in our hearts. We are so grateful for your support.
